Your Instructor
Charles Vance is a working automation and IT developer — not a trainer by trade, but a practitioner who still actively builds and ships real projects in the field. He is Ignition Gold Certified and holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Information Technology, with years of hands-on experience delivering SCADA and HMI solutions for clients in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas, and beyond.
LearnSCADA is his passion project — a way to pass on what he's learned to the next generation of technicians and engineers. Because he teaches from active, real-world work rather than a textbook, his instruction is practical, grounded, and honest about how these systems actually behave on the job. He has a knack for breaking down complex SCADA and programming concepts into plain, easy-to-follow terms, and he's known for being patient, thorough, and genuinely invested in his students' success.
If you want to learn Ignition and SCADA from someone who does this work every day — and who's teaching because he wants to, not because it's his job — Charles Vance is the guide for you.
